utt Pattanaik feels that instead of monetary gains, today’s education should be directed towards overall development of young minds. He says that real education is not just a degree it is beyond that.
PATTANAIK’S TAKE
Devdutt is of the opinion that the present education should not be limited to earning money. He says that engineering students should also be taught about management, beside mathematics, which he expressed at a ‘Principals’ and Academicians’ Conclave here last night. This is necessary because life is about managing things well at a given time. This lacking can make situations worse.
He wants education to be connected with real life experiences and not to be confined to book based learning. Devdutt feels that “Our kitchen is the biggest laboratory where chemistry can be learnt but everyone want to learn the subject from books. Real education is more than becoming a doctor or engineer,” the 46-year-old author expressed.
Stressing on putting into use traditional knowledge to modern education, Pattanaik said, “Blending mythology with mainstream studies will help in the overall development of young minds.”
Pattanaik, the noted author of 30 books, was delivering this keynote address at the conclave hosted by Aakash Institute in association with The Newtown School.
