Hyderabad: Ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad, the BRS demanded the Centre to conduct Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) exams in regional languages including Telugu and other languages.
Conducting the central competitive examinations only in Hindi was against the spirit of the Constitution as there are several official languages in the country, Telangana minister KT Rama Rao said who wrote to union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday to revise the CRPF recruitment notification and include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam and other official languages in the notification.
In his letter KTR said lakhs of government job aspirants, who are not acquainted with Hindi or English should be given a chance to write in their languages, he said.
“As per the notification, the computer based test will be conducted in English and Hindi only. The competitive exams are being held only in English and Hindi, which is a serious disadvantage to students who did not study in English medium or are not from Hindi-speaking states,” the minister said.
He reminded that the National Recruitment Agency has decided to facilitate a common eligibility test (NRA-CET) to replace multiple examinations and conduct these in 12 Indian languages. However, it’s not being implemented properly, including in the (CRPF) recruitment notification, KTR said.
He said that the CRPF notification denies people the right to equal opportunities – guaranteed by the constitution.
The minister recalled that CM K. Chandrashekar Rao wrote to PM Narendra Modi in November 2020, urging them to hold all competitive exams to central government jobs in regional languages. He appealed to the union home minister Amit Shah to revise the CRPF notification so that crores of youth studying in regional languages get equal opportunities without any discrimination or inequality.
