CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2021: Nationality, Education and Age limit

CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria for LLB

The student who wants to appear for the CLAT exam should meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to get admission in the undergraduate programs

CLAT Age limit

According to the latest guidelines, there will not be any upper age limit for the undergraduate programme. But the candidates who are applying for the CLAT exam should be above 17 years.

CLAT Qualification

The CLAT Qualification which is required to appear for the CLAT exam are as follows

 If you are from the General/OBC/PWD/NRI/OCI categories then it is necessary that the candidate should securea minimum of 45% marks in the senior secondary school examination for the 12th board examination.

The candidates who are belonging to the SC or ST categories should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in their 12th board examination.

The candidates who are appearing in class 12th board examinations are also eligible to fill the application form for CLAT Exam. But it is necessary that the candidate should submit the result of the 12th standard examination at the time of admission.

If the candidate fails to submit a copy of the result at the time of admission, the admission gets cancelled and you will lose your chance of admission to your desired Law College.

The candidate in the CLAT exam get equal marks then there are some points which are given by the conducting body for the selection of the candidate which are as follows

  • The candidate who scores maximum marks in the legal aptitude section will be preferred first.
  • If the tie between students still exists, then the candidate with higher age will be preferred first.
  • If the tie still exists then the computerized draw is to be done to decide the rank of the candidate.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for 5 years Integrated LLB or LLM Courses

The Indian Nationals, as well as Non-Resident Indians, are eligible to apply for CLAT Examination.

Age Limit

There will not be any upper age limit is for the CLAT exam which means that the candidates belonging to any age are eligible for a five-year Integrated LLB or LLM program. But the minimum age criteria to apply for the CLAT exam is above 20 years.

Educational Qualification

It is necessary thatthe candidates who are belonging from the General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories should score a minimumof 50% marks in the LLB degree. A relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates who arebelonging to SC/ST category.

Documents Required for NRI Candidates for the CLAT Admission Process

Candidates which are fromthe NRI category compulsorilyhave to submit the below-listed documents during the admission process

  • The Copy of an Indian Passport of the candidate.
  • The Visas which are acquired in the last 12 months.
  • Certificate from the local embassy stating that the candidate is an NRI/OCI.
Documents Required for NRI Sponsored Candidates during the Admission process
  • Visas obtained in the last 12 months by the Sponsor.
  • Certificate from the local embassy stating that the Sponsor is an NRI/ OCI.
  • An affidavit by the sponsor indicating their interest shown in the education affairs of the student and willingness to fund the education of the candidate over the next 5 years.
