ARPIT is an online certificate course that will be conducted for three months by the government. LEAP is as an annual programme by IIT Kharagpur to train academics with leadership potential and help them improve their administrative skills.
To bring in quality teaching in the country, the Centre has launched the Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) and Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) just a day before Children’s Day. These programmes are aimed to enhance the quality of teaching and bring in a notable mentoring in all the higher education institutes. The programme was launched by
HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar.
ARPIT is an online certificate course that will be conducted for three months by the government. Going by the numbers, the programme will reach 13 lakh teachers from government, state and private universities across the country. To train the teachers, 75 resource centers have come ahead and coordinated to teach and train the teachers’ new developments and concepts in the field. Till now, courses on 68 subjects is uploaded on SWAYAM portal.
The government has not made this programme compulsory, but it will affect the promotion cycle of the teacher in the recent future.The other programme, LEAP is being coordinated as an annual programme by
IIT Kharagpur to train academics with leadership potential and help them improve their administrative skills, crisis management abilities, teamwork and communication skills. As reported by Local Media, the training module for the programme has been developed by top-ranked IITs and IIMs of the country. This programme focuses on teaching and preparing 1.5 million faculty members for leadership roles over the coming years.
