Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy has promised one crore skilled labour in 2017-18. This happened at the launch of BW People which is the latest community magazine of BW Businessworld. This magazine provides insights in the HR ecosystem
Can’t create employment but employability: Rudy
Speaking at the launch, Rudy pointed out how his ministry cannot create employment but employability. “My ministry is not entrusted with creating employment, something which journalists and common people get confused about. We are here to create skilled labour to improve employability,” Rudy said.
The minister also acknowledged,“The existing processes only map crucial sectors of the economy and not unorganised job sectors such as those of drivers, gardeners, sound managers etc. We need to take them into account to actually come to a number as to how many people are skilled in India.
Rudy’s Emphasis
—Stressed on the importance of skilling people
—How his ministry is creating processes to ensure the same
—Put emphasis on how the perception of job creation has to be changed in the country
Rudy said, “Today, 2.3 million skilled workforce comes out of ITIs in India and people don’t really see them as skilled and give them any respect. My ministry will ensure that ten years from now, students crave and aspire to be a part of ITIs in India. We are planning to create a National Board for students who pass ITIs so that they can also give exams at par with students from ICSE and CBSE board.”
On 15th June 2017, BW Businessworld launched its community magazine, BW People. BW People provides insightful trends from the ecosystem of human resource (HR) community and celebrates thought leaders and community builders from the domain.
