CAT 2017 result are out and as has been the trend, 20 candidates have scores a 100 percentile this year as well. The results were officially declared on the CAT official website and candidates were individually notified also through SMS on their registered mobile numbers.

However, bucking the trend this year, candidates from different backgrounds have scored a 100 percentile. Compared to last year when all the top 20 candidates with 100 percentile were male engineers, this year two female and three engineers also made it to the list.
While in CAT 2016 all the top 20 candidates were male and engineers, this year the top 20 list contains two female candidates and three non-engineers.
DETAILS OF THE IIMs
A total of 1,99,632 candidates had appeared for all the CAT exam 2017, held on 26th November across 140 cities in India. The number of candidates appearing for the exam this year has been the highest in the last 3 years, according to IIM Lucknow.
Various management colleges including IIMs will be releasing their shortlist for admissions soon. The shortlist will allow candidates to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) and finalise their admissions. The selection process will be conducted during February – April.
Apart from the 20 IIMs that have some 4,000-odd seats between them, some of India’s top business schools including FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, NITIE, JBIMS also accept CAT scores for admission to their flagship programs.
Ramnath Kanakadandi, course director for CAT Exam at TIME was quoted by ET, “The IIMs have been making changes to the exam pattern in the last two-three years and this has created a more level playing field for students across diverse backgrounds.”
