Bombay HC On JEE Main 2023: JEE Main 2023: Bombay High Court to hear 75 percent eligibility plea today, updates here

JEE Main 2023: The Bombay High Court is all set to hear the PIL filed for the removal of 75% eligibility criteria from the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) today, April 13, 2023. The petition claims that the eligibility criteria of 75% for JEE Main is unfair on the part of the students as it is not a reflection of their abilities.
“The marks scored by them is not a true reflection of their actual ability therefore those students with less marks than the eligibility criteria (75%) for this year’s examinations can score very high marks in the upcoming JEE Main 2023, and if a fair chance is denied to them that will affect the future (of) lakhs of bright (students),” the PIL stated.
Bombay High Court Chief Justice SV Gangapurwala and Justice Sandeep V Marne took up this matter on March 1, 2023. The case was adjourned for another hearing on April 6, 2023 when the court asked the government and National Testing Agency to produce all the relevant documents and data related to 75% eligibility criteria for Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2023.
Last year, the NTA removed the 75% eligibility criteria for JEE Main candidates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the new rules, candidates who have obtained 75 per cent marks or are in the top 20 percentile of their Class 12 exam can apply for the examination.
Meanwhile, NTA is conducting the JEE Main Session-II Examination 2023. The exams began on April 6 and will continue till April 15, 2023.
