122 new projects costing Rs 112 crore have been approved by the Ministry of human resource development under IMPRINT-II. The approved projects cover various domains including
Healthcare, Security, ICT, Energy, Advanced Materials. Prakash Javadekar, the HRD minister said that only 122 best proposals were selected out of the total 2145 proposals.
The HRD minister Prakash Javadekar also said that
81 projects are sponsored by the industry out of the total 122 projects sanctioned under IMPRINT-II and this industry-academic collaboration will bring excellence in research. He also added that for monitoring the progress of these research projects and to disperse the findings of the projects, a knowledge portal will be launched in October 2018.

It was also decided that from now onwards
higher education institutes including private institutes will be eligible for IMPRINT proposals.
The Second phase of IMPRINT was launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in March. Funds of
Rs 1,000 crore were sanctioned by the Government for research in the field of Science and Technology which will be made available over the next two years, i.e. 2018 -19 and 2019-20.
Impacting Research Innovation and Technology (IMPRINT) was launched to promote scientific and technological research in India as a joint venture between the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
